Problem/solution:

The project consists of the installation 30 km of pipelines in an area with complicated environmental conditions for the possibility of very frequent and high earthquakes every, for passage through slopes with possible of landslides and for the difficulties of reaching the construction site.

Why Expanded Clay:

In these hard environmental and logistic conditions to preserve the stability and integrity of the pipeline it was necessary to choose a material with a very low density, with high insulation properties, inert and resistant, with a spherical shape and environmentally compatible.

Experience:

The expanded clay with was the best possible technical economic choice. It was transported to the construction site in 50 litres bags with dozer and in the site the bags then the bags were open and the expanded clay laid by hand.

Key Issues:

Stability, Thermal Insulation,
